Florida permanent sales tax exemption for portable generators (disaster preparedness items)
How much you can get
Portable engine-driven generators rated 10,000 running watts or less are permanently exempt from Florida sales tax (6% state rate plus any local surtax) from 2025-08-01 (HB 7031, 2025). Not a rebate: the saving is the tax not charged at the register. The temporary holidays capped generators at $3,000; whether a price cap applies to the permanent exemption was not confirmed.
